One Saturday in February 2021, I discovered a box of copper sheets depicting various rings at Vienna's Naschmarkt. I quickly decided to buy a bundle and only later took a closer look at my flea market find in the studio, where each sheet shows the detailed imprint of a ring from as many perspectives as possible. Almost every plate is labeled and dated between 1926 and 1933. It is highly likely that these are galvanically produced impressions of works by a Viennese jeweler who archived them in this way.
Casts of individual galvanic plates form the individually crafted ring heads of the new rings. The narrative of the old becomes the decorative element of the new.
