JUST ADD FLESH
Rebekah Frank's new pieces attempt to capture space, frame that space, and then invite a person into the space. They are interactive line drawings. The pieces don’t make sense until there is a push-pull between the created boundary and the body. Her work reflects her experience with identity as flexible, but also shared with a community of fierce, exploratory, boundary-questioning queers.
Rebekah collaborated with San Francisco-based queer photographer Lydia Daniller using models who are part of the vibrant queer and/or artistic community of San Francisco.
After working as a welder and blacksmith, Rebekah Frank received an MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art, Michigan (2012). Since then she has maintained a studio in San Francisco, CA and was director of the Art Jewelry Forum, an online magazine dedicated to stimulating the conversation surrounding contemporary jewelry.
Rebekah Frank has been exhibiting with Ornamentum since 2012 and was an invited panelist as part of the 2014 Design/ Miami lecture series.
Just Add Flesh is Rebekah Frank's first solo exhibition.
